On this map area, Mountaingate stretches north from Deer Valley Drive, and is west of Cave Creek Road. There are a few larger single-family neighborhoods within this area: Desert Peak, Boulder Creek at Desert Foothills, and Mountaingate.
Desert Peak is a master-planned community built in 2007. Desert Peak is home to over 600 single family homes, divided into four distinct “units” or neighborhoods, each with similar facades. Homes range from 3 to 6 bedrooms. The square foot range of homes with 3 bedrooms in Desert Peak is 1248 SF to 2773 SF. The average square foot of single-family homes in Desert Peak is 2,247 square feet. The community is home to one large park and three pocket parks. The parks feature shaded ramadas, play structures, and lighted basketball courts. There are miles of walking paths throughout the community, as well as several greenbelts. The community is very active, and the property management company sponsors annual community events including a summer “Movie in the Park” event as well as a “Spring Fling” event.
Boulder Creek at Desert Foothills features contemporary style single family homes built in 1999-2000. Mountaingate features 3-4 bedroom single-family homes built in 1996, and range in size from 1,053 sq ft to 2,676 sq ft.
Pinnacle at Desert Peak is a gated condominium complex featuring its own community pool. Each building is home to three units, most with two stories, but there are a few floorplans for duplex style living for those who prefer one story. The condo sizes range from 1,152 to 1,466 sq ft.

Things To Do: To the north of Mountaingate is state trust land and the actual “peak” for which Desert Peak is named. A few miles north of Desert Peak is the Phoenix Sonoran Preserve with its paved walking paths as well as beginner level hikes at the Apache Wash Trail Head. Just south of Mountaingate is the Reach 11 Sports Complex with its 18 regulation-sized soccer and field hockey fields. The complex is also home to 4 youth baseball fields, shaded picnic areas, a playground, as well as numerous walking trails.
Nearby entertainment includes the J.W. Marriott Resort and Spa at Desert Ridge, a luxury resort on 316 acres. Across the street from the J.W. Marriott is the popular Desert Ridge Marketplace, an outdoor mall with 2 million square feet of retail space with a popular splash pad and dozens of restaurants. Next door to Desert Ridge is High Street, a smaller outdoor shopping center with retail, restaurants as well as loft-style residences.
